GovCamp
A New Spirit of Public Sector Innovation
GovCamp Toronto 2011, presented by Net Change Week, sponsored by Microsoft and facilitated by The Moment, was the largest gathering of Canada’s “Government 2.0” community coming from all three orders of government.
Here’s a short snippet of proceedings at the start of the day:
GovCamp is created by and for the leaders, innovators and practitioners who are bringing a new spirit of innovation to the public sector. The Hon. Glen Murray, Minister of Research and Innovation for the Province of Ontario was unable to attend, but sent this message to attendees:
GovCamp Toronto 2011 is the latest in a series of gatherings to connect, share and showcase successes and learnings in four areas: emerging technologies, public involvement, web communications and the culture and methods of public sector innovation.
GovCamp builds upon the work of ChangeCamp, CityCamp, OpenGovWest and many similar “unconference” events, where the participants create the content and where connections are as important as the subject matter.
