The Power of Open

Using the open web & social media to work smarter, empower supporters and unlock your secret superpowers

Friday June 10, 1-3pm

Many organizations are struggling with the gap between social media hype versus reality. This session explores how digital native organizations like Mozilla (makers of the popular open source Firefox web browser) are using smart collaborative tools and an “open everything” approach to optimize day-to-day work, bring in volunteer contributors, and advance their mission.

This interactive salon will look at case studies, best practices and real world examples for enabling greater transparency, agility and collaboration in your work. The emphasis will be on techniques for going deep instead of wide, enabling more meaningful engagement with your organization’s core supporters and champions. Instead of trying to “go viral” or “grow a big list,” the focus here is on using the right open web tools and practices to empower passionate communities of peers to work smarter, increase impact, and get more done.
